Suno Changes Its Download System: Pro Limited to 20, Premier to 60 Downloads
Suno introduced a new download allowance on September 3, 2026. Pro subscribers receive 20 downloads a month, while Premier subscribers receive 60. Before planning your next session, make one distinction clear: generation credits and download credits serve different purposes. The new figures describe song downloads, not the number of songs you can generate.

What Are Suno's New Download Limits?
The following allowances come from Suno's current download help page. The Studio exception applies to Premier users working in Studio; it should be read separately from the standard Premier allowance.
| Plan | Download Allowance |
|---|---|
| Free | Trial downloads depending on account status |
| Pro | 20 per month |
| Premier | 60 per month |
| Premier + Suno Studio | Studio workflows are not subject to download limits |
For Free users, the account's joining date matters. Those who joined before September 3, 2026 have up to seven trial downloads. Those joining on or after that date may occasionally receive trial downloads. Both groups can purchase additional downloads; neither rule establishes a recurring allowance of seven per month.
What Does "20 Downloads" Actually Mean?
20 downloads does not simply mean 20 clicks on the Download button. Suno counts downloads on a per-song basis.
- Downloading the same song again does not use another download credit.
- Choosing a different format for that same song does not count again.
- The song's stems are included in its download, rather than counted as separate downloads.
- Failed or interrupted downloads do not reduce the allowance.
For example, downloading a final song and later returning for another format and its stems does not turn that one selection into several quota entries. Choosing a different song is a separate download. Suno explains these rules in its changes FAQ.
Do Download Credits Roll Over?
Unused monthly Pro and Premier download credits do not roll over. Your monthly allowance resets on your billing date. Paying annually does not provide a full year's downloads in one allocation: the allowance is topped up monthly, following the original purchase date.
Separately purchased individual downloads and download packs do carry over. When reviewing your available balance, distinguish those purchases from the monthly allowance included in your subscription. See Suno's download credit rollover explanation for this distinction.
Do the Limits Apply to Older Songs?
Yes. The rules cover music created before September 3 as well as newer songs. An earlier creation date does not, by itself, exempt a song from the download allowance. The repeat-download rule described above still applies.
Your existing library remains playable within Suno, and songs can still be shared through links. The change concerns downloading files off the platform. You can continue listening and sharing without first exporting every song to your device.
What Changes for Free Users?
Accounts created before September 3, 2026
These Free users have up to seven trial downloads, with the option to buy additional downloads. The trial allocation is not a monthly refill.
Accounts created on or after September 3, 2026
These users may occasionally receive trial downloads and can also purchase downloads. Suno does not specify a guaranteed recurring number for this group.
Trial downloads are not eligible for commercial use. For the joining-date distinction, this article follows the September 3 “How do downloads work?” update. The older FAQ's general Free-tier wording should not be taken to promise seven trial downloads to every newly created account.
The Suno Studio Exception
For Premier users, downloads within Suno Studio workflows are not subject to download limits. Suno presents this exception in the context of continuing work inside its production environment.
Keep the scope precise: it does not make every Premier download unlimited in every part of Suno. The standard Library allowance remains 60 per month, while Studio workflows have the stated exception.
Generation Credits and Download Credits Are Different
Suno's generation credit documentation lists these monthly allocations:
- Pro: 2,500 generation credits per month, alongside 20 downloads per month.
- Premier: 10,000 generation credits per month, alongside 60 downloads per month.
The download allowance therefore does not mean that Pro users can create only 20 songs or Premier users only 60. You can continue exploring numerous generations using your generation balance while making a separate choice about which songs to export. These credit figures are not being converted into a fixed song count here.
What This Means for Lumiere Prompt Studio Users
A useful working habit is to treat downloading as a selection step. You do not need a local copy of every experiment to decide whether its musical direction is worth pursuing.
- Listen first. Review the vocal delivery, arrangement and structure inside Suno before downloading.
- Build a shortlist. Identify the results that deserve another listen and the candidates you want to take into editing.
- Plan prompt variations. Give each attempt a purpose, such as testing a different tempo or a more restrained vocal.
- Download your chosen candidates. Reserve the allowance for finals or songs you intend to work on outside Suno.
- Remember the format and stem rule. MP3/WAV versions and stems of the same song do not each consume an additional download slot.
A more focused brief in Lumiere Prompt Studio may help reduce unnecessary variations. Explore the Prompt Library for starting points or use the Guide to follow the workflow. The practical aim is to know what each new prompt is testing, then judge the result against that intention.
Quick Summary
- Pro includes 20 monthly downloads; Premier includes 60. These are not generation limits.
- Repeat downloads, other formats and stems of the same song do not count again; failed downloads do not count.
- Monthly allowances reset on the billing date without rollover; separately purchased downloads carry over.
- Older songs are covered, while in-app listening and link sharing continue.
- Free trial access depends on the joining date, and trial downloads are non-commercial.
- Premier users have a download-limit exception for Suno Studio workflows.
